TRIAZU – Improving Energy Efficiency

TRIAZU - Improving Energy Efficiency

What is Triazu?

Triazu is a state-of-the-art, agent-based simulation platform that models policy, physical infrastructure, and peopleโ€™s behaviour. The tool improves on conventional methods by including behaviour and policy aspects along with the technological aspects.

Existing Approach

Audits are highly people intensive

Any change in appliance, layout or specifications requires a redo

Solutions require high capital expenditure

Primarily looks at technology aspects, no user behaviour modelling

Present approaches to improvement of energy efficiency are primarily technology focused, cumbersome, expensive, and involve high capital. The focus on technology alone, without looking at either policy aspects or behavioural aspects leads to limited potential in reducing consumption and increase in uptake of renewable energy.

Benefits of Triazu

Energy audits primarily scrutinise technology solutions to reduce and/or optimise energy consumption. Most IoT-based solutions model system health and energy policies and do not examine usage patterns to optimise.

Models an energy environment to reduce energy consumption by optimising for policy, technology, or user engagement

Potential to save 10-25% of energy consumption in industries by improving energy efficiency

Potential to achieve a 10% reduction in annual expenditure on energy

Potential to achieve a 10% reduction in annual expenditure on energy

Triazu can be used at a DISCOM level to understand and model demand shaping through behaviour shaping policies. Triazu can also be used to model smaller installations to model behaviour and technology to optimise the rules of the BMS system to ensure maximum acceptance for automated BMS.

Triazu Success Stories

Potential to achieve a 10% reduction in annual expenditure on energy.

Demonstrated a saving of 10% in annual energy expenditure without additional investment at IIIT-Bangalore campus.

Demonstrated 20% energy savings at a pilot with Government of Andhra Pradesh and TATA Power in the aquaculture industry.

Allows for testing multiple scenarios and evaluates trade-offs .

Meets diverse set of needs with passive and active strategy testing.

Simulates pathways to transition to renewable energy.

Reduces energy consumption and improves energy efficiency.

Business Model

Triazu is currently run on a software as a service model, where the model specific for the context is created and analysed. The tool models on the following parameters:
In the long term, Triazu can be set up like a continuous monitoring service.

Integrates behaviour, technology
and policy hence greater savings

Cheaper than conventional
measures

User-led behaviour modelling
approach that builds on existing
processes

Based on the userโ€™s risk appetite

Potential Applications of Triazu

Triazu can model and optimize demand in the following areas:

HVAC & Public utilities

Energy & usage policies

Load balancing practices

Electricals in residential campuses

Automation of repetitive functions
