Pucca House

Pucca House was developed in partnership with The/Nudge Institute as a simulation to test and compare different pathways for building affordable and sustainable housing.

Pucca House is simulation that enables actors involved with the different aspects of providing accommodation, including housing, credit finance, and scheme design, to evaluate the potential impact of their proposed interventions.

Stakeholders interested in developing sustainable housing plans can use Pucca House to estimate housing costs, affordability for different sections of the population, and the embodied energy and carbon footprints of the planned strategy.

Pucca House considers the overlapping and compounding impact of concurrent factors on the viability of housing initiatives by allowing users to experiment with buidling codes and bylaws; building material choice; financing mechanisms; and the location of the house in the city.

The simulation was tested for the urban slum dwellers in Bangalore.
